Description
INSERV, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Sampling Technician to collect and test hazardous and non-hazardous materials at our facility and customer sites. In this hands-on role, you’ll combine field sampling, basic laboratory testing, equipment care, and accurate documentation to support our Compliance and Operations teams. If you enjoy practical technical work, follow procedures carefully, and take pride in getting the details right, we’d like to hear from you. Collect representative samples of liquids, solids, sludges, soils, and construction debris using established sampling procedures. Perform basic waste-screening and suitability tests, including pH, flammability, and other specified characteristics. Record test results promptly and accurately, communicating findings and unusual results to Compliance and Operations. Maintain complete sample logs and chain-of-custody documentation, including sample sources, testing performed, results, and associated material disposition. Monitor laboratory equipment, maintain supplies, and report maintenance, repair, or replenishment needs. Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment when sampling, testing, and handling materials. Maintain working knowledge of environmental and transportation requirements relevant to assigned duties, including DOT, RCRA, CERCLA, EPA, and local requirements. Assist with daily solid-waste processing operations and contribute ideas that improve safety, accuracy, and efficiency. Strong reading comprehension and practical math skills. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, organized records. Ability to read, understand, and follow technical instructions and established procedures. Comfort working with laboratory equipment and handling materials in a regulated industrial environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including entering, organizing, and communicating information. Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Compliance and Operations. Ability to recognize unexpected results or conditions and seek guidance when needed. Commitment to safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment. Helpful Experience Experience in environmental sampling, laboratory testing, quality control, chemical handling, hazardous waste management, or industrial operations is helpful. Familiarity with chain-of-custody documentation, pH testing, or waste-screening procedures is also valuable. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position includes work in laboratory, industrial, and customer-site environments. Duties involve extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, or kneeling, as well as computer work and reviewing technical information.
