As a Manufacturing Safety Technician , you’ll be a visible and trusted safety partner at our Sioux Center manufacturing facility. You’ll work alongside plant leadership and team members to identify hazards, strengthen safe work practices, and help everyone go home safe.  This role is a strong fit for a safety professional who enjoys being present where the work happens, building relationships, and turning safety expectations into practical everyday behaviors.  Why join Interstates?  At Interstates, we invest in our people with:  401(k) with company match  Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance  Paid time off and holiday pay  Flexible scheduling  Bonus incentives and merit increases  Career coaching and advancement opportunities  Company discounts, events, and volunteer opportunities  A family-focused safety culture  What you’ll do  Serve as the day-to-day safety partner for the manufacturing facility.  Walk the facility to observe work practices, identify hazards, and reinforce safe behaviors.  Partner with plant leadership to address unsafe conditions, equipment, and behaviors.  Assist with incident and unsafe-act investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.  Support safety training, coaching, and communication.  Coordinate safety audits, documentation, reporting, and follow-up.  Help ensure safety equipment and supplies are available.  Monitor plant injuries and incidents in partnership with Safety Management.  Participate in safety meetings and communicate safety successes, concerns, and improvement opportunities.  What you bring  Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field; or two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  OSHA 30-hour training.  Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards.  Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.  Strong communication, organization, judgment, and follow-through.  Ability to build relationships and influence safe outcomes without direct supervisory authority.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and SharePoint.  Preferred qualifications  Internship experience or professional experience in safety, manufacturing, or a related field. Knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and NFPA 70E.  Experience with safety trainings, safety audits, incident investigations, or corrective actions.  What success looks like  You’ll help teams recognize risks before incidents occur, understand the “why” behind safety expectations, and take practical steps to work safely. Your visibility, communication, and follow-through will help strengthen the facility’s safety culture.  Work environment  This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. You may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.  The manufacturing environment may include moving machinery, chemicals, welding operations, outdoor conditions, and electrical hazards.
